Discussion and possible action to authorize the purchase of 144 Point Blank Alpha Black IIIA with Two Hi Lite Carriers and 129 Standard IIIA/3 with Two Carriers - Armored Vests for both the Patrol and Jail divisions for the Webb County Sheriff’s Office from Galls (Buy-Board No. 603-20) in an amount not to exceed $257,264.95 pursuant to the Texas Local Government Code; Sections 271.101, 271.102, Sub-Chapter F. Cooperative Purchasing Programs and any other matters incident thereto. [Accounts #1001-4070-001-456305 (Uniforms) and #1001-3010-001-456305 (Uniforms)]

Issue: The Sheriff’s Office is in need to replace existing bullet and knife proof vests that have reached the recommended usage replacement limits. Standard practice to replace vests under normal wear and tear is every five (5) years.

Solution: Authorize the purchase using cooperative pricing under Buy-Board contract awarded to Galls. Funding is available under the Sheriff’s general fund budget.

Result: Order will be placed upon commissioners court approval. Estimated time of delivery for deputies vests is 30-45 days from when PO is received. Jailers' vests 60-90 days from when PO is received.
