Discussion and possible action to authorize the Purchasing Agent to seek formal request for proposals to seek competitive pricing for three (3) Thermal Infrared Cameras to be strategically located throughout Webb County for law enforcement purposes in accordance with the Texas Local Government Code; Section 262.030 (Alternative Competitive Proposal Procedure for Certain Goods and Services) and any other matters incident thereto. [Account #2475-3010-001-470000 (Operation Lone Star – Sheriff Bargaining Unit - Capital Outlay)]

Issue: The Webb County Sheriff’s Office was awarded the Lone Star Grant which includes funding for Thermal Infrared Cameras for law enforcement purposes. Cameras would be placed strategically throughout Webb County to provide surveillance of illegal activity and to protect the safety of Webb County Citizens.

Solution: Authorize the Purchasing Agent to solicit formal proposals to seek competitive pricing with the option to request best and final offer prior to award as permitted by State law under LGC 262.030.

Results: Proceed with advertisement to seek out competitive proposals and return to Commissioners Court with a recommendation for award.
