Discussion and possible action to authorize the purchase of eight (8) Glocks G45 MOS Optics package 9mm weapons from GT Distributors, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $3,966.70 and to further authorize the trade in of eleven (11) County owned Sig Sauer 9mm weapons with 3 magazines to receive a credit of $3,404.50 off total purchase price and to further authorize the Purchasing Agent and County Auditor to adjust the inventory reports accordingly after transaction is completed and any other matters incident thereto. Issue: Due to recent reports of accidental misfires without trigger being touched with the Sig Sauer weapons, the Webb County Attorney’s Office is recommending to trade in the existing inventory and replace with Glocks.

Solution: Recommendation is to proceed with purchase after Court approval from reputable vendor that sells law enforcement supplies and equipment with a State cooperative contract.

Result: Potential defective weapons will be traded in and removed from County inventory.  100% of purchase is covered utilizing federal forfeiture funds from the County Attorney’s Office.
