Discussion and possible action to adopt an order to amend the County's budget to cover the increase in the amount paid to a Juror as described in H.B. 3474. Said House Bill amends Sections 61.001 and 61.0015 under the Texas Government Code and is effective September 1, 2023; The statutory amendment will affect the County's budget since it increases the pay before the fiscal year is complete. H.B. 3474 mandates that the State reimburse a county only for the increase in pay to Jurors under Article 8, Jurors and Jury Service; Sections 8.001 and 8.002; and any other matters incident thereto.

Background:

H.B. 3474 was signed June 13, 2023 and amends the Texas Government Code to increase the juror pay.
