Subject:

Discussion and possible action to approve the 2024 Formula Grant Indigent Defense Resolution. The purpose of the grant is to maintain quality, cost-effective criminal defense system that meets the needs to the local communities and the requirements of the constitution and state law. Webb County will be eligible to receive a portion of the funding. This is a yearly on-going grant. There will be no impact to the general fund. All required documents were forwarded to the Economic Development Department for review and the solicitation is compliant with the single point of contact procedure. [Requested by Pre-Trial Services]

Issue: The Texas Commission on Indigent Defense offers funding for counties eligible to receive funding through the Formula Grant process.

Solution: Webb County may receive a portion of the Formula Grant depending on the population

Result: This is an on-going grant application that is submitted every year. Webb County has been receiving funding through this grant since my tenure.
