Discussion and possible action to enter into an Agreement between Webb County for the benefit of the Webb County Sheriff's Office and the Sames Auto Arena, an event facility owned by the City of Laredo located at 6700 Arena Blvd., Laredo, Texas 78041. The facility will be used by the Webb County Sheriff's Office for a Drug Awareness Concert (from October 17, 2023, through October 18, 2023) for a total cost of EIGHTEEN THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED SEVENTY-EIGHT DOLLARS ($18,978.00); and authorizing the County Judge to sign all relevant documents and any other matters incident thereto. This is paid through forfeiture funds; thus, there is no impact to the general fund. [Requested by Martin Cuellar, Sheriff; Account #2151-3010-001-455501 (Drug Free Campaign)]

Issue: Owner (City of Laredo) and managing company "SMG" require a Use License Agreement to be formalized for use of facility.

Solution: Review, negotiate and approve a Licensing agreement for Drug Free Event Concert.

Result: Compliance with City of Laredo and managing company agreement requirements for use of facility (Laredo Energy Arena) while providing a public service to the community in the form of a drug awareness concert.

Background:

For several years, the Honorable Sheriff Martin Cuellar hosts the annual Drug Free Concert at the Sames Auto Arena. The Drug Awareness program draws the local youth in the form of a healthy demonstration of entertainment that promotes anti-drug behavior and awareness.
