Discussion and possible action to authorize the issuance of a credit card to the Civil Legal Division to facilitate the payment of fees associated with the submission of requests for Open Records Opinion; the Office of the Attorney General is now requiring requestors pay $7.50 for each submission by credit card only.
Issue:
The Attorney General will only accept payments for Open Record Opinion requests by credit card. If the fee is not paid, the Attorney General will deny any request for an Open Records Opinion thus requiring disclosure of non-public records.
Solution:
Authorize the issuance of a credit card to the Civil Legal Department so that payment may be made for each Open Records Opinion request.
Result:
Open Records requests can be promptly processed and non-public records will remain protected.
