Discussion and possible action to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Webb County for the Webb County Sheriff’s Office and Workforce Solutions for South Texas in reference to working cooperatively to provide and support a teacher externship at the Webb County Sheriff’s Office for approximately Four (4) hours per day for One (1) week during June, 2016 and authorizing the County Judge to execute all relevant documents related to this grant; and any other matters thereto. This MOU does not require any type of financial commitment.

Background:

The WSST Teacher Externship Program will assist teachers to incorporate into their lesson plans, the observed connections teachers make between the application of all required knowledge, skills and abilities required for the selected targeted industries and demand occupations and the delivery of the requirements in their teaching strategies and lessons. Forty (40) Science, Technology, English, and Math middle and high school teachers from four (4) school districts within South Texas service delivery area will be selected be placed in work-sites of targeted industries to observe selected demand occupations, including the Webb County Sheriff’s Office.
