Discussion and possible action to approve the purchase of a replacement trailer mounted hydro-jetter in the amount of $42,850 to Harben, Inc. under the HGAC Buy Board Contract Pricing, Contract Number SC01-16. [Account #758-8005-8601 (2016 Bond Series)]

Issue: Existing trailer mounted hydro-jetting equipment was purchased in 1998 and has been repaired multiple times inclusive of motor replacement, pump replacement, and tank replacement in the 20 years of service life of this equipment. This small trailer mounted jetting equipment is primarily used in small diameter lines and lines associated in easements within private property owners. Due to the use of our Vacuum Jetter Truck and our sewer collection line cleaning program, the majority of customer calls are due to small service lines where the large truck cannot enter. This unit is being requested to improve the reliability of service to our customers. Existing unit will be placed out of service due to calculated cost for equipment replacement is at $21,000 not inclusive of labor.

Solution: Replace old unit with new smaller footprint equipment with safer operation for our employees and customers included stronger capacity to resolve blockages within service area.

Result: Improved response reliability. Safer and more efficient operation. Increase equipment capacity.

Background:

Existing unit has been in service since inception of wastewater system operation.
