Discussion and possible action to accept TCDP Contract No. 7216115 grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture under the Texas Community Development Block Grant Program in the amount of Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000) effective date of contract shall be November 30, 2016, and shall terminate on November 29, 2018 for the construction of Mirando City Standpipe Water Storage Tank in Mirando City Texas, and designating the County Judge as the County's Chief Executive Officer and authorized representative to act in all matters in connection with this project. This action will have no impact on the County's General Fund. [Requested by Juan Vargas, Economic Development Executive Director]

Issue: Mirando Rural Water Supply Corporation is under a TCEQ corrective order to improve their water system's storage capacity or face stiff fines.

Solution: Assist Mirando Rural Water Supply Corporation in implementing this grant in order to improve their water system's water storage capacity.

Result: The acceptance of this contract will assist the residents of Mirando City Texas by improving their water system and will meet Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requirements.

Background:

Grant application was submitted to Texas Department of Agriculture - Texas Community Development Block Grant Program Colonia Fund: Construction (CFC) 2015-2016 on July 2015.
