Discussion and possible action to award project to Environmental Improvements (EI2) in the amount of $30,815.70 to purchase a 6,150 Gallon Capacity Vertical (Alum) Storage Tank, a 2550 Gallon Capacity Vertical (Caustic) Storage Tank, a 295 Gallon Capacity Vertical Day Tank (Caustic) Storage Tank, Digital Chemical Scale and a 2550 Gallon Caustic Tank Heater System for the (Caustic) Storage Tank. [Account #758-8006-8601 (Bond Series)]

Issue: We currently have (2) Aluminum Sulfate Storage Tanks that hold a total of 4,200 Gallons of chemical but they only have a life time of 10 years according to the manufacturer and they need to get replaced. They also have leaks that are beyond repair.

Solution: Authorize issuance of purchase order to Environmental Improvements, lowest & responsible bidder.

Result: Complete installation and operation of the Chemical Storage Tanks, Day Tank, and Scale. We will have more Chemical Storage Capacity. Tanks that will be purchased will have a 20 year life time warranty according to the manufacturer.

Background:

This is a proactive project in place that is not due to any violations; however, our production needs require additional storage of stock chemicals for treatment. It is a lesser cost to purchase new and larger capacity tanks instead of add smaller tanks to the already aging preliminary tanks.
