Discussion and possible action to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between Laredo Community College (LCC) and Webb County Community Action Agency (CAA) to include Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Contract Number #61170002691 for the Discretionary Funds of a CDL Truck Driving Training classes. This project is funded through the Texas Department of Community Affairs (TDHCA) Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Program, effective February 01, 2017 and to end December 31, 2017. [Account #2368-5170-521-457008-010 (Contractual Skills Training)]

Issue: As a Texas Department of Housing Community Affairs requirement, the agency must assist qualifying Webb County residents to transitioning out of poverty.

Solution: Webb County Community Action Agency would enter a Memorandum of Understanding and fund the Truck Driver Training Classes with Laredo Community College.

Result: By providing the training to qualifying Webb County residents, it would increase the resident's probability of transitioning out poverty.
