Discussion and possible action to accept the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Grant Award Number #1H79TI081049-01 (Program Announcement Number 93.243, Opportunity Number TI-18-008), in the amount of ($2,000,000) TWO MILLION DOLLARS, at an award amount of ($400,000), FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS per year, for a total of (5) FIVE YEARS, starting September 30, 2018 and ending September 29, 2023, for the County Court at Law 2 DWI Court Program, and authorizing the County Judge to sign all relevant documents and matters incident thereto. This action will not have impact to the General Fund. All required documents were sent for review through the Economic Development Department and the solicitation is complaint with the Webb County Single Point of Contact (SPOC) procedures. Issue: Grant Opportunity Number TI-18-008 has already been approved for funding by SAMHSA on August 8, 2018. County Court at Law 2 is respectfully requesting that the Webb County Commissioner's Court approve and finalize the award.

Solution: Commissioners Court approve award for County Court at Law 2 DWI Court Program.

Result: The approval of the award will allow County Court at Law 2 to enhance and expand its DWI Court Program for the next (5) five years, and to continue to treat individuals in our Court systems for substance abuse disorders, and/or co-occuring substance abuse and mental health disorders.

Background:

County Court at Law 2 currently has an existing DWI Court Program that is also SAMHSA funded, which is set to expire on September 29, 2018, ending a (3) three year award for Webb County.

Previous Court Action:

Commissioner's Court approved the existing DWI Court Program in County Court at Law 2 that commenced on September 30, 2015.
