CACFP Governing Body Awareness
Submitted for: Aliza Oliveros Submitted By: Aliza Oliveros
Department: Head Start

Subject:
Discussion and possible action to affirm the Court's approval to continue to allow the Head Start and Early Head Start program to participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program and to confirm the Court's awareness of the organization's responsibilities and liabilities associated with participation.
Background:
As the Webb County Commissioners Court has a newly elected Commissioner for Precinct 4, the Child and Adult Care Food Program policy dictates that the Court must reaffirm its desire to participate in the program.  Head Start and Early Head Start staff perform and monitor all responsibilities and liabilities associated with participation in the program.  The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a nutritional program offered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  Funds received from this program are used to provide breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack to enrolled children.
Previous Court Action:
The Commissioner's Court approved participation in the Child and Adult Care Food Program on January 1, 2017.
