Recognition and presentation of plaque to Layla Espinoza of United South High School on behalf of La Estrella Del Deporte program. Ms. Espinoza took home the silver medal at the State Powerlifting Meet on Saturday, March 16 in Waco, TX. Layla was the only Laredo Lifter to bring home a medal. She placed 2nd in Class 6A in 181 lb. weight class. She squatted 425 lbs., bench pressed 210 lbs. and dead lifted 385 lbs. for a total of 1,020 lbs., finishing her high school powerlifting career with three state appearances. Ms. Espinoza was recognized as La Estrella Del Deporte in February, representing USHS. [Requested by Jesse Gonzalez, Commissioner Pct. 1]
