Discussion and possible action to authorize the Economic Development Department to develop and submit a Fiscal Year 2020 Border Zone Fire Departments (BZFD) Grant application to the Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office: Homeland Security Grants Division for up to $50,000.00, and authorizing the County Judge to act as the Authorized Representative in all matters pertaining to the County's request for funding. The purpose of the application is to acquire a removable skid unit for installation on a Webb County Fire Department owned military truck for fire suppression and high water rescue. This application has no impact on the County Fund for the duration of the grant. All required documents were sent for review through the Economic Development Department and the solicitation is compliant with the Webb County Single Point of Contact (SPOC) procedures. Issue: As the Webb County Volunteer Fire Department expands to ensure the safety of Webb County residents, so does the demand for additional units or modification of units already in service to meet community needs.

Solution: The acquisition of a removable skid unit for use on a military truck that would aid with fire suppression and rescue.

Result: A safer resilient community and a well-prepared fire department.
