Discussion and possible action to create, fund, post and fill a new full-time Nurse position through the General Fund for the Indigent Health Care Department at a Grade Level 16Z subject to the availability of funds and any applicable Civil Service guidelines.

Issue: Due to the current pandemic, the Indigent Health Care Department has needed to expand services within the Public Health office, such as administering COVID-19 vaccines, in addition to the regular health services that are offered to the public. An additional nurse is being requested to assist with the increase of services. Training and certification of a new nurse is a long process, so it is vital to hire as soon as possible.

Solution: Approval by Commissioners Court for a new slot.

Result: The new nurse will be able to train and receive certification as soon as possible to ensure that the public health services are provided efficiently.
