Discussion and possible action to authorize the Economic Development Department to develop and submit an application to U.S. Department of Agriculture- Rural Development (USDA-RD) in the amount of FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($500,000.00) for street improvements to Welch Rd located adjacent to State Highway 359 Colonias. This action will have no impact to the County General Fund. All required documents were sent for review to the Economic Development and the Solicitation is compliant with the Webb County Single Point of Contact (SPOC) procedures.

Issue: Residents of State Highway 359 Colonias and emergency vehicles are oftentimes unable to safely navigate Welch Rd. during flooding events causing serious safety concerns

Solution: Improve Welch Rd. fissures and substandard conditions.

Result: The completion of Welch Rd. renovations will remove potential threats to public safety.
