FY 2015 Assistance to Firefighters Grant

Discussion and possible action to authorize the Economic Development Department to develop a Fiscal Year 2015 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Application for a grant amount not to exceed Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The purpose of the application is to assist the Webb County Volunteer Fire Department via the purchase of a communications base tower for the Los Botines Fire Station and Personal Protective Equipment. This proposed action will require a Five percent (5%) cash match to be drawn from the Webb County Volunteer Fire Department’s budget; this amount shall not exceed the sum of One Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($1,250.00). Background:

AFG funding will be sought from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to equip the Webb County Volunteer Fire Department with a communications base tower and Personal Protective Equipment. The program period is for one (1) year during the FY 2015 funding cycle. This grant will have no impact on the General Fund. The five percent (5%) cash match requirement will be leveraged from other sources.
