Solicitation of Formal Bids- Medical Examiners Facility Renovation

Discussion and possible action to authorize the Purchasing Agent to solicit formal bids for the renovation and expansion of the existing Medical Examiner’s facility located at 7210 B. Saunders, Laredo, Texas in accordance with the Texas Government Code; Section 2269.101 (Contracts for Facilities: Competitive Bidding) [Bond Series 2019A; Account #3871-3100-001-474501 (Construction in Progress)]

Issue: Commissioners Court has executed an architectural contract and the process to finalize a design and estimated budgets has started. Securing approval to solicit for competitive bids will provide the Purchasing Agent the authority to publish the solicitation and encourage participation to secure competitive bids for possible award to lowest and responsible bidder.

Solution: Approve the authority to seek competitive bids after design and construction documents are completed.

Result: Process to seek for competitive bids will be initiated after construction documents are provided for publication by contracted Architect.

Background:

Court has authorized the use of Bond Series 2019A funds for the design and construction/renovations to the Medical Examiner’s facility.

Previous Court Action:

Court authorized a contractual agreement with Redline Architecture, LLC on 10/28/2019, item 17.
