Discussion and possible action to authorize the acceptance of an Operation Border Star (CJD Grant No. 1979008) from the Office of the Governor Criminal Justice Division in the amount of $48,663.65 for the salary and fringe benefits of a deputy/certified peace officer to provide enhanced patrol for increased border security in the Laredo/Webb County area, and authorizing the County Judge to execute all relevant documents; and any other matters incident thereto. This grant does not require any match.

Background:

This grant funds the continuing salary and fringe benefits of a deputy/certified peace officer at the Webb County Sheriff's Office to provide border security through enhanced patrol.

Previous Court Action:

The submission of this grant application was authorized by the Webb County Commissioners' Court on Monday, January 27, 2014.
