Discussion and possible action to authorize the acceptance of a Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) grant (CJD Grant No. 2757001) from the Office of the Governor Criminal Justice Division in the amount of $8,977 for training/travel, equipment, and supplies to enhance response capacity of investigators at the Webb County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) who investigate cases of domestic violence, sexual abuse, stalking, and dating violence; and authorizing the County Judge to execute all relevant documents; and any other matters incident thereto. This grant requires a cash match of $4,835. [Account #168-9501-9301 (Forfeiture Funds)]

Background:

This grant provides needed equipment, supplies, and training/travel for investigators who investigate incidents/cases of domestic violence, sexual abuse, stalking, and dating violence in the Laredo/Webb County community.

Previous Court Action:

The submission of this grant application was authorized by the Webb County Commissioners' Court on Monday, January 27, 2014.
