Discussion and possible action to approve the 2016 Formula Grant Indigent Defense Resolution. The Texas Commission on Indigent Defense has budgeted $24,000,000, for Fiscal Year 2016, to develop and maintain quality, cost effective indigent defense system that meet the needs of local communities and the requirements of the Constitution and state law. This amount is shared by other counties throughout the state. Webb County will be eligible to receive a portion of the funding.

Background:

This is a yearly grant resolution that is submitted to the Texas Commission on Indigent Defense.
The Texas Commission on Indigent Defense has budgeted $24.000.000.00, for FY 2016, to develop and maintain quality , cost effective indigent defensive systems that meet the needs of local communities and the requirements of the Constitution and state law. This amount is to be shared by other counties throughout the state. Webb County will be eligible to receive a portion of the funding once we met all the requirements.
