Discussion with possible action to award a project to Select Energy Services of Laredo, Texas in the amount not to exceed $20,160.00 for repair and equipment replacement of the water well at Colorado Acres.

Issue: The well at the Colorado Acres Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Facility is currently inoperable. We are unable to proceed with the cost evaluation and preliminary engineering for installing a new RO treatment unit until the capacity and quality of the water is examined while the well is in operation.

Solution: Receive proposals for the well repair inclusive of new pump and motor and initiate project completion.

Result: Well is returned to full operation and we can continue with examination of RO treatments, facility repair and/or replacement.

Background:

The approximate 1,200 feet well at the Colorado Acres (Las Lomas) RO treatment facility has been in disrepair for a minimum of 6 months. Preliminary tests do not indicate the cause for the well pump issues. Therefore, in order to investigate the cause or extent of damages, the well's pump and casing will need to be removed and tested separately. Request for Quotations were requested from multiple well repair companies and the sole proposer is Select Energy. This cost will include the labor to pull and remove as well as installation of a new pump and motor. Any additional costs in which the contractor is unable to examine will be returned for consideration.
