Subject:

Discussion and possible action to authorize the Purchasing Agent to solicit Professional Services from a licensed attorney in the State of Texas, in an amount not to exceed One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00) as a retainer, for outside counsel to the Civil Service Commission, and authorizing the County Judge to sign all relevant documents; and any other matters incident thereto. Issue: The Commission would like to have outside counsel for hearings that come up. County Attorney currently represents the County and Elected Officials and Department Heads. They feel that independent counsel will assist them in making the proper decision.

Solution: Assist the Civil Service Commission when and if they need to deliberate in executive session, over hearings that come before them related to employee disciplinary issues.

Result: Commission will benefit from outside counsel.
