Subject:

Discussion and possible action to authorize the acceptance of a 2017 Local Border Security Program (LBSP), Grant number 344042 from Office of the Governor Homeland Security Grants Division (HSGD) in the amount of $30,000.00 for overtime for Deputies and any applicable fringe benefits to provide enhanced border security for the Webb County Constable Pct. 3 Department; and authorizing the Webb County Judge to execute all relevant documents; and any other matters incident thereto. This grant does not require any type of match.

Issue: The State of Texas recognizes that border communities face urgent security challenges caused by increased activity from transnational organized criminal syndicates and their allies. These socio-economic pressures place increased demand on law enforcement services and intensify the need for augmented public safety resources within Webb County and Precinct 3.

Solution: Grant will allow deputies with in Webb Constable Pct. 3 to work overtime (OT) to help suppress, deter, and reduce criminal activity in Webb County Precinct 3.

Result: By approving the grant it will enhance/increase patrol and investigative capacity for deputies working at the Webb County Constable Pct. 3 Department.
