Discussion and possible action to authorize the hiring of a temporary part time position (no benefits) at an hourly rate of $13.00 per hour to be funded from the vacant Administrative Clerk Position to cover front desk operations and other administrative tasks assigned by the Purchasing Agent, not to exceed 90 days effective October 10, 2017; the full time position will be filled once the job description is approved by the Civil Service Commission and Commissioners Court:

Issue: Court approved Administrative Clerk position for fiscal year end 2018. Job description will be drafted and taken to Purchasing Board and Commissioners Court for approval prior to securing certification from the Civil Service Commission.

Solution: Hire a Temporary PT employee to man the front desk operations and other related administrative duties until job description is certified.

Result: A temporary PT employee will cover front desk operations, answer incoming phone calls, and assist Purchasing Agent with other administrative tasks assigned.
