Discussion and possible action to dispose of five modular buildings known to this program as Jesus Garcia I, II, and III and Magic Corner I and II. As of August 2011, the Webb County Head Start Program has been gradually integrating classrooms with the two local independent school districts (ISD). Currently, the program has twenty-three (23) classrooms integrated with Laredo ISD and twenty-one (21) classrooms integrated with United ISD. Head Start students benefit from the instruction of an ISD certified teacher, a Head Start Teacher Assistant, and a Head Start support staff. This integration allows for augmented instruction with the implementation of Head Start Program Performance Standards and the State of Texas Day Care Licensing regulations which are overseen and implemented by Head Start employees. With each new integration, the use of dated modular buildings that are placed on rented property is being phased out. If approved for disposition, the program plans to follow the Webb County Purchasing Rules and Regulations for property transfer (donation - no value to be received) to a local, non-profit agency named Volunteers Serving the Need (VSTN).

Background:

The request to remove the five modular buildings from inventory is not finalized until it is approved by the Office of Head Start.
