Subject:

Discussion and possible action to authorize the acceptance of a Criminal Justice grant award from the Office of the Governor Criminal Justice Division in the amount of $35,815.92 for equipment, minor tools, supplies for the Webb County Sheriff's Office Code Enforcement Unit and as developed, written, and submitted by the Webb County Sheriff's Office Grant Writer; and authorizing the Webb County Judge to execute all relevant documents; and any other matters incident thereto. This grant does not require any type of match; and, thus will have no impact to the general fund. All required documents were sent for review through the Economic Development Department and the solicitation is compliant with the Webb County Single Point of Contact (SPOC) procedures. Issue: Environmental degradation is a critical and widespread problem throughout the world, including Webb County.

Solution: Grant award to provide supplemental resources for equipment, minor tools, and supplies in support of the Webb County Sheriff’s Office Code Enforcement Division.

Result: Grant funding will allow members of the Code Enforcement to be equipped with supplemental resources.

Background:

At the court meeting of 12/13/2021, the court passed an order regulating environmental nuisance and designations.

Previous Court Action:

This grant application was authorized for submission on 1/18/2022.
