Discussion and possible action to authorize the Purchasing Agent to add three new cell phone lines including data service in accordance with the current approved AT&T FirstNet Plan to the Webb County Planning Department pursuant to Sections 271.101 and 271.102, Texas Local Government Code, Cooperative Purchasing program DIR Agreement TELE-CTSA-002 at a monthly rate of $44.99 per phone ($134.97 per month) plus surcharges and other fees; and subject to annual budgetary appropriation. Issue: Cellular phones are needed for Planning’s field personnel to ensure communication while out on inspections around Webb County (extensive rural area). Currently field staff have to rely on personal devices to communicate with applicants and respond to any emergency or complaints. Additionally, new file management software will integrate with mobile device for real-time inspection information.

Solution: Approval of cell phones will ensure that the staff out in the rural areas is able to communicate with the office and applicants at all times as well as provide real-time inspection data.

Result: Staff will be able to communicate with the office and respond to any calls on a daily basis.
