Subject:
Discussion and possible action to accept an award from the U.S. Department of Justice, United States Marshals Service for overtime expenses. The period of performance for this award is October 19, 2016 through September 30, 2017 for an amount not to exceed $13,000.00. Forfeiture funds will be utilized to cover the fringe benefits allocated to the overtime. [Fund 288]

Issue:
Collaboration between Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies is necessary to pursue and capture individuals that have outstanding warrants therefore deemed  fugitives from Justice.

Solution: Accept Federal assistance to continue local participation in Joint Operations with the U.S. Department of Justice, United States Marshals Service.

Result: Apprehension and prosecution of dangerous fugitives from the Law.
Background:
The District Attorney’s Office would like to continue participating in the Joint Law Enforcement Task force with the United States Department of Justice. The primary mission of the task force is to investigate and arrest persons who have active stale and federal warrants for their arrest. The intent of the joint effort is to investigate and apprehend local, state and federal fugitives, thereby improving public safety and reducing violent crime.
Previous Court Action:
The cooperative agreement was approved by the Governing Body on September 22, 2014. The agreement in place is perpetual in nature.
