Discussion and possible action to approve the transfer of payroll funds between the following vacant Slots in an effort to re-hire a county employee who was terminated due to budget cuts; with further action to approve the filling of the slot at the previously held salary of $33,145 (Grade 10-Step M); effective December 12, 2016; and any other matters incident thereto.

Issue: A recent vacancy (Slot 0144) has provided the opportunity to rehire a former employee that was terminated due to budget cuts. The rehiring would involve the transfer of funds of recently vacated slot into Slot 0140, which was of former employee. The former employee's last work day was September 30, 2016 and would be potentially returning on December 12, 2016 - staying within the 90 days of termination. The employee’s salary at the point of termination was the hourly rate of $15.93, Salary of $33,145 (Grade 10- Step M) and was employed for a total of 4 years and 2 months.

Solution: Acquire court approval to re-hire former employee to return to the previous slot, which will now be funded from available payroll funds from another recent vacant slot.

Result: The former employee will return at the same pay and grade as before the termination.
