Rescinding Moratorium on Tax Abatements

Discussion and possible action to rescind the moratorium on tax abatements.
Issue:
The Commissioners Court had imposed a
moratorium
on all tax abatements within the county until tax abatement guidelines could be updated.
Solution:
Tax abatement guidelines and criteria have been updated and amended and the moratorium should be lifted.
Result:
Eligible entities may apply for a tax abatement
.
Background:
In April of 2019 the Commissioners Court had enacted a moratorium on tax abatements until the guidelines and criteria could be revised. The Court has revised and amended the guidelines and criteria.
