Discussion and possible action to amend the contract with TYCO SimplexGrinnell for the "Fire Protection System” for the Community Supervision & Corrections Department/Police Athletic League (C.S.C.D./PAL). [Account #742-8001-8801-12 (Capital Outlay Renovations)]

Problem: The original contract for the renovation of the C.S.C.D./PAL building did not include the completion of the fire protection system requirements set by City Ordinance to meet code. TYCO SimplexGrinnell was selected through the Texas State (on contract) to provide services at $55,296.30 and Commissioners Court approved the item on January 12, 2015. After reevaluation of the costs by the Engineering Department, it was identified that the total cost would be for $97,046.30.

Solution: Amend contract with TYCO SimplexGrinnell for the Fire Protection System.

Result: Comply with City of Laredo Building Fire Protection System installation services.

Background:

An Agenda Line Item Transfer has been submitted for next Commissioner Court meeting dated February 9, 2015 for Account 742-8001-8801-12 Capital Outlay Renovations - amount of $41,750.00.
