Modifications to the Emergency Management Committee Charter

Discussion and possible action to approve the modifications to the Emergency Management Committee charter that was first approved on March 23, 2015. Changes include the addition of the Constables and Community Center representatives as members of the committee, and to extend the frequency of regular meetings from every two months to every four months (March, July, November); recommended by the Emergency Management Coordinator.

Issue: During the dissemination of the 2016 updated Emergency Operations Plan, it was noted that the Constables, who often support first responder operations in various scenarios, and Community Centers who participate in shelter operations, were not part of the Emergency Management Committee membership as approved in 2015. Additionally, given that much of the emergency preparedness planning is completed through meetings with individual departments and county officials, meetings every four months are considered sufficient to meet the committee goals.

Solution: Update the Emergency Management Committee Charter.

Result: Inclusion of Constables from all precincts and Community Center representatives as part of the Emergency Management Committee, and reduction in frequency of regular meetings.
