Subject:

Discussion and possible action to authorize the Purchasing Agent to solicit Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Engineering Services for Mirando Rural Water Supply Corp. Water Storage Tank design and Specifications in accordance to grant contract from the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). (Construction will be done by a state grant and will not impact the County General Fund). [Requested by Juan Vargas, Economic Development Department Executive Director]

Issue: Engineer required to design water storage standpipe tank.

Solution: This will meet Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requirements for public water system.

Result: This will allow Mirando City Rural Water Supply Corporation (MCRWSC) to meet TCEQ's corrective order for the improvements of the water system.

Background:

Texas Department of Agriculture awarded Webb County a grant in the amount of $500,000 for water improvement project to replace the Mirando Water Storage Standpipe Tank in Mirando City Texas.

Previous Court Action:

Commissioners Court will be reviewing and will be taking action on Texas Community Development Contract #7216115 in the amount of $500,000 at the February 13, 2017 Commissioners Court Meeting.
