Trade in Weapons for new property of same general type

Discussion and possible action to approve the trade in of 250 service weapons in accordance with the Texas Local Government Code, Section 263.152 (Disposition)(A)(2) for the purpose of purchasing new service weapons for the Webb County Sheriff's Office. The trade in value of the weapons will provide a $92,875.00 reduction in the cost to purchase the Sig Sauer 9 mm service weapons. [Requested by Joe Lopez III, Purchasing Agent]

Issue: State law requires for Commissioner Court to approve any offer of County property as a trade-in for new property of the same general type if the Commissioners Court considers the action to be in the best interest of County.

Solution: Approve the trade in of service weapons to secure a $92,875.00 credit toward total cost of new service weapons.

Result: Comply with State law and minimize expenditures by trading in older service weapons for new weapons.
