Discussion and possible action to approve the submission of a grant application from the Texas Comptrollers in the amount of $275,000.00. The purpose of this grant is to provide supplemental salaries with the purpose of retaining current prosecutors and successfully hiring new employees. The grant would be designating the District Attorney as the authorized official in all matters related to this grant, and any other matters incident thereto. All required documents will be sent for review through the Economic Development Department and the solicitation will be compliant with the Webb County Single Point of Contact (SPOC) procedure. There is no cash match required. [Requested by Isidro "Chilo" Alaniz, District Attorney]

Issue: District Attorney’s Offices all over Texas are having a hard time retaining and hiring prosecutors due to the competitive salaries in the private sector and other government agencies.

Solution: Use the amount if awarded to pay higher salaries and be able to retain employees.

Result: The District Attorney’s Office will be able to retain and higher employees.
