Discussion and possible action to approve the 406th Judicial District Court Adult Drug Court Program application for the Bureau Justice of Assistance (BJA) Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program for grant period: October 1, 2015 - September 30, 2018 Grant No. BJA-2015-4087

Issue: To implement an evidence-based adult DWI Court by applying the Ten Key Components of the Drugs Courts and the Guiding Principles of DWI Courts for felony and misdemeanor defendants in Webb County.

Solution: Apply for the Bureau Justice of Assistance Adult Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program.

Result: To provide alcohol abuse and co-occurring psychiatric treatment services to qualifying participants of Webb County.

Background:

This grant is being offered by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau Justice of Assistance (BJA).

Previous Court Action:

The Webb County Commissioner's Court approved and authorized the establishment of a Drug Court Program in Webb County and designated the 406th Judicial District Drug Court Program as one of the courts authorized to implement the program.
