Subject:
Discussion and possible action to  authorize the acceptance of a grant award from the Office of Texas Attorney General in the amount of $6,000 for technology supplies for the Webb County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC); and authorizing the Webb County Judge to execute all relevant documents; and any other matters incident thereto. The grant was officially awarded to Webb County on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2:42 P.M.; and the grant performance period runs from February 1, 2017 to May 31, 2017. This grant requires no match, and thus is at no cost to the Webb County budget.

Issue: The psychological, emotional, and physical damage caused by child predators and inflicted on innocent victims, their families, and communities can be deeply destructive and have far-reaching consequences that can last a lifetime. Furthermore, throughout the United States, criminal cases built against child predators can be extremely complex, technologically challenging, and legally complicated.
