Discussion and possible action to authorize the Purchasing Agent to solicit Request for Proposals for Leasing of Webb County School Lands for Renewable Energy Development and any other matters incident thereto.

Issue: Webb County currently leases property designated at school lands for Grazing and Hunting operations. Webb County and the School Districts are interested in using the same properties for renewable energy development utilizing wind, solar or both to generate renewable energy/electricity. This project can potentially generate substantial revenue for the benefit of the school districts and for Webb County.

Solution: Approve the authorization to solicit for competitive proposals from Wind and Solar Energy firms interested in investing in a long-term lease agreement with Webb County utilizing properties designated as school lands.

Result: Secure competitive proposals for consideration and award by Commissioners Court for the benefit of Webb County and the School Districts that are located within Webb County boundaries.
