Texas Community Development Block Grant application for Colonia Fund Contruction Program

Discussion and possible action to authorize the development and submission of a Texas Community Development Block Grant application to the Texas Department of Agriculture for the Colonia Fund Construction Program in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000.00 for water system improvements in colonias adjacent to U.S. Highway 59; and authorizing the County Judge to act as the County's Executive Officer and Authorized Representative in all matters pertaining to the County's participation in the Colonia Fund Construction Program. This grant application will require a county cash/in-kind match of 5% or $50,000.

Issue: The U.S. Highway 59 water well, tank, and dispenser system has issues that require improvements for optimal drinking water production.

Solution: Improve water quality by installation of a filtration system to remove sulfur and other contaminants from the water well system.

Result: The development and submission of a Texas Community Development Block Grant application to the Texas Department of Agriculture for the Colonia Fund Construction Program for water system improvements
