Subject:

Discussion and possible action to reinstate the Scoring Committee procedure for selection of bidders for professional, construction and other contract work solicited by Webb County and matters incident thereto which may include the selection and designation of committee composition.

Background:

In years past Webb County utilized the Scoring Committee procedure to select successful bidders for county contracts. This procedure was somehow abandoned over the last couple of years to the point that now 1 individual, often the county engineer, is the only previous committee member determining who is either selected or recommended to the commissioners court as the successful bidder. This may not result in the selection of the best applicants for county projects.

Previous Court Action:

In years' past the commissioners court implemented the scoring committee procedure for selection of successful bidders for county contracts but the procedure has eroded down to 1 member making the selection.
