Discussion and possible action to approve and fund the purchase of Audio and Video equipment for the courtroom at the 111th District Court using Capital Outlay funds in the estimated amount of $15,500. [Account #3015-7050-001-470000-075]

Issue: Two months ago, the downtown area was struck with a power outage while our court was beginning a Murder Trial. Our trial continued, but when the power came back up, our audio and visual equipment failed to work. Since then we have a portable monitor being used by both counsel and the jurors to use as Audio/Visuals and a battery operated microphone on the jury stand. We have had two more trials and continue to have constant audio and visual issues.

Solution: MIS has looked at the equipment, which is over 12 years old, and recommended that we upgrade as most of the current equipment has long been discontinued.

Result: Working Audio and Visual equipment in the courtroom.
