Discussion and possible action to approve the purchase of 14 Body Armor vests in the amount of $9,792.00, and authorize the County Judge to sign all relevant documents; and any other matters incident thereto. [Co-Sponsored by Commissioner Jesse Gonzalez]

Issue: 9 Deputies are currently utilizing Body Armor that is 5 or more years old. The Constable and 4 Deputies currently do not have any type of Body Armor. Body Armor is recommended to be exchanged every 5 years or less.

Solution: Identify source of funding and purchase 14 Body Armor vest, to be worn on a daily basis.

Result: The Deputy's probability of survival is increased from a 53% chance without any type of Body Armor to an 83% chance with Body Armor. (Data Source Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA) database)
