Discussion and possible action to approve a budget modification by authorizing a carry over of unobligated funds from year 1 of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Adult Drug Court Program in the amount of $32,500.00 to utilize in the current fiscal year of the SAMHSA Adult Drug Court Program Grant No. TI026096-02. The intent is to carry over unused funds from year 1 to year 2 and disburse such amounts to the following categories: $21,388.00 to the Treatment Provider contracted to continue to provide outpatient treatment services to all qualifying participants until the end of the fiscal year 09/29/2017. $11,112.00 to other expenses, specifically purchasing additional Vivitrol shots to qualifying participants as indicated by the medical physician, and authorizing the County Judge to sign and execute all relevant documents.

Background:

A Federal Financial Report for year 1 submitted in December 2016 reflected the intent to carry over $32,500.00 from year 1 to year 2 of the SAMHSA 406th Judicial District Court Adult Drug Court Program. According SAMHSA Carry Over Requests policies and procedures, it isn't required to submit a formal carry over request to the federal agency because the carry over amount requested does not exceed 10% of the total amount awarded and because the funds awarded to the 406th Adult Drug Court is not considered at risk or restricted as noted in the Notice of Award issued for the current fiscal year.

Previous Court Action:

The Webb County Commissioner's Court approved and authorized the establishment of a Drug Court Program in Webb County and designated the 406th Judicial District Court as one of the courts authorized to implement the program.
