Discussion and possible action to authorize the transfer of funds in an amount not to exceed $60,000 from the Operational Reserve to the Sheriff’s Office Capital Outlay for the purchase of an AES encryption software AES Key/ Multi-Key Feature for the Motorola radios used by the Sheriff’s officers. [Transfer from Operational Reserve Account #1001-1130-001-431007 to Sheriffs’ Office Capital Outlay Account #1001-3010-001-470000]

Issue: The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) software key/ multi-key feature for the Motorola radios is needed for the upgraded system and new features of the current Motorola radios to enhance communication security, improve overall operational efficiencies and the ability to communicate securely over the air with sensitive information.

Solution: Transfer of funds to purchase the AES encryption key/multi-key feature for the Motorola radios.

Result: Secure radio communications for the Sheriff’s Office radios.
