Discussion and possible action to approve a Fifteen (15) month contract between Webb County and Maverick County for the housing of Webb County adult inmates effective July 1, 2014 through September 30, 2015 at a rate of $44.00 per inmate per day and authorizing the County Judge to execute all relevant documents and any other matters incident thereto. [Account #001-2060-6023]

Background:

The Webb County Sheriff's Office currently has other active contracts with surrounding Counties, but due to recent spikes in inmate population, the Sheriff's Office is recommending to secure availability of additional beds to manage inmate population and keep compliance with the Texas Jail Commission rules and regulations. Average inmate population has increased to 550 per month and female population has almost doubled requiring Jail staff to transfer 20 female inmates to Zapata County Jail.

Sheriff's Office recommends approval.

Approval of Zapata, Dimmit and Jim Hogg County contracts.
