Discussion and possible action to authorize the purchase of Thirteen (13) APX 8000 Portable Radios from Motorola Solutions in an amount not to exceed $75,891.98 (HGAC Contract #RA05-18) for the Webb County District Attorney’s Office in accordance with the Texas Local Government Code, Sub-Chapter F. Cooperative Purchasing Program; Section 271.102 (Cooperative Purchasing Program Participation) and any other matters incident thereto. Issue: Through a federal grant, funding is allocated for the purchase of portable radios to be utilized for multi-jurisdictional law enforcement operations.

Solution: Proceed with the purchase of portable radios.

Result: Supplemental communication tools will be acquired for the enhanced safety of sworn officers and the public.

Background:

Federal grant monies have been allocated to purchase critical communications equipment in the form of portable radios for the sworn officer force of the 49th Judicial District Attorney's Office. The total grant award approved is $70,976. The difference in the expense will be covered using District Attorney Forfeiture funds.

Previous Court Action:

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) grant award was accepted by Commissioners Court on February 24, 2020.
