Discussion and possible action to authorize the Purchasing Agent to award a contract to El Paso Phoenix Pumps, Inc., in the amount of $49,684.00 for the replacement, with Two (2) pumps and Two (2) motors, of the Peerless Model 12LD-2stg Submersible Turbine Pump and HITACHI 10HIT4-50-4 10" Submersible Hitachi Motor. [Sec. 262.024. DISCRETIONARY EXEMPTIONS. (a) A contract for the purchase of any of the following item is exempt from the requirement established by Section 262.023 if the Commissioners Court by order grants the exemption: (11) vehicle and equipment repairs. [Bond Series 2013 Fund 745]

Background:

The Rio Bravo Water Treatment Plant is designed to maintain three (3) 900 gallon per minute submersible pumps for delivery of river water to Plant Reservoirs continuously 24/7 in providing continuous service for our customers. Currently our system has been operating with only one (1) of these pumps without any redundancy other than a mobile pump installed as a temporary solution. A potential risk of not being able to transfer water to the Water Treatment settling pond for daily water demand.
